ARTIST AND DESIGNER
Hello and welcome to my online portfolio of still life and landscape paintings
I work from my studio in the East Midlands.
The work is available to buy either directly from me or if it is in an exhibition from listed galleries.
Also I am very happy to work to a specific commission.

I studied textile design at Manchester Polytechnic and graduated in 1987 with a degree in Printed Textiles. Since graduating I have worked as a full time and part-time university lecturer and produced design collections, selling work through textile and giftware agents. Original paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the UK.
My approach to still life painting has been influenced by my textile background. I explore colour and shape within in a flattened space and flowers are often the main focus of a painting.
I paint in my studio in Leicester working from sketchbooks, photographs and memory; using a range of media on gesso wooden panels, canvas and paper.
I like to sketch on location and I travel widely throughout the UK and beyond. I have a fascination with remote islands and I am particularly drawn to the Outer Hebrides a special place that despite the distance from the Midlands I return to again and again.
The paintings are informed by my personal experience of walking in the landscape. Sketchbook drawings and photographs play a useful part in developing a new work. I explore the physical quality of paint allowing the gestural brush marks to suggest the light and weather of the places I have experienced.
The sense of being out in big open places lie at the heart of what I am expressing in paint.
My work has been licensed worldwide.
I have designed giftware for many clients including The National Trust, Museums and Galleries, Woodmansterne Publications, Paperchase, Tracks Publishing, Paperlink, The Art Group, Phoenix Trading, Pigment Productions, Clare Maddicott Publications, Abacus, Wildcard Company, Tartan 2CV, Cancer Research, The Robertson Collection and Trader Joe's.
My work readily lends itself to wall art and recent clients include John Lewis, Metcolours and the Cornish based company Whistlefish Galleries
